As some people already know in 2005 they found a tumour (benign - thankfully) in my head. Specifically a pituitary tumour. The tumour was in the shape of a snowman and therefore has been generically called the evil snowman in Rob's head. There was a contest to name the snowman and after much voting it was named Squonk.

The snowman – two circles really – is about 32mm diameter on the lower circle and about 24mm on the upper one. It is crushing the Pituitary gland and the Optic Chiasm. This means my hormones have all been depressed and I have been losing my peripheral vision.

A wonderful Doctor (Agbi) removed the snowman on the 2nd of May 2005 and thankfully my vision is back to normal 20/20 and the Pituitary gland has return to normal function. In other words I am as close to normal as I ever get. The time in the hospital also gave them a chance to watch me sleep (most of my friends had a chance to see this anyway) and it turns out I also had severe sleep apnoea - this is now also under control.

Hopfully 2006 and forward will be better years.
